From the encounter with a place and its past it was born the project of Sicilian designer Marella Ferrera “MF & Fashion Museum” where she moved the headquarters of her fashion house.

It was opened in May 2008 into the historical centre of Catania, this new concept of museum wants to tell a story of emotions, with links about experiences and particular signs. This is a gift that the famous designer wanted to give to her city to bring together two tangents worlds, fashion and art, in an imaginary journey in the footsteps of Goethe and the Prince Biscari.

For it is according to the memory of the past, the designer has decided to bring back to life through an artistic experience full of contamination, the Museum Biscari at 250 years exactly since its foundation by the Prince Ignazio Paternò Castello, the fifth Prince Biscari.

The Museum Biscari has told me to come to life – Marella Ferrera explains – and I wanted to take his soul in the charm of its own memory. In its buried and forgotten stones I felt the urge to revive this place through the power of the five senses.”

Here, on the occasion of the inauguration, attended by distinguished guests such as Prince Roberto Paternò Castello, a direct descendant of Ignazio, Nicoletta Moretti, director of the renowned magazine Book Moda, Gilda Bojardi, editor of the “Interni” and Antonella Grua, director of “Numéro Beauté”, it was possible to visit the two “twins” galleries of the Biscari museum, called “Antiquaria” and “Naturalia”, entering in a fascinating artistic and sensory path that it was created by a large team of architects, sound illustrators and art directors.

From Edoardo Scirè – the strategist responsible of MF, to the Studio Licata & Santangelo, to the architects Paolo Paolini and Giuseppe Scuderi, from the “errant cooker” Carmelo Chiaramonte to the “Iblean aromer” Enrico Russino. Not to mention the creations of the Officina Botanica and the extraordinary light designs by Mario Nanni, international designer that transforms light into a valuable architectural and construction “ingredient”.

And in this elegant, basic place with understated opulence in the taste of combinations full of references, Marella Ferrera has decided to set up the exhibition “Beyond the dress … Thought”.

The exhibition is permanent.
