Piazza Università - 95131 Catania

To spend a pleasant night out, in summer, sit at one of the tables in Piazza Università. Enjoy it!

It’s located not far from Piazza Duomo, along the via Etnea, Piazza Università takes its name from the Siculorum Gymnasium also known as Palazzo Università.

The characteristic of this square are the four bronze lamps positioned at its four corners depicting characters of folk tales from Catania, in order: the young Gammazita, the sailor Cola Pesce with diving skills, the brothers Anfinomo and Anapia and the Catania legendary protector Uzeta.

Piazza Università is the scene of Catania movida, especially in summer when there are events, concerts and shows and the square fills with outdoor tables of local neighbors. The floor is entirely paved with lava rock and in the center there’s the Catania coat of arms.
