Pristine beaches, wildlife oasis and natural paradises. Siracusa is charming not only due to its rich cultural heritage, but also because of the nature that has something for everyone (young explorers, sportsmen or families). Nature in Siracusa has a lot to offer and show. You don’t believe us? We are ready to prove it.

The Pantalica reserve is of great historical and natural interest. It is the largest necropolis in Sicily, built into the rock by the local citizens. Immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the play of light and shade produced by the white stone and thick vegetation. If you visit Siracusa in summer, you should dedicate a day to discovering the oasis. Getting to the reserve on foot is not easy, but the beautiful natural scenery will more than repay your efforts.

For sea and snorkelling fans Siracusa offers spectacular views and crystal clear sea.

With 14 km of coastline stretching from Punta Mola to Punta Milocca this is the marine protected area of the Plemmirio. Its rocky seabed is rich in artefacts from different eras and bursting with a myriad  of marine species typical to the Mediterranean. A suggestive path leads to the Maddalena Peninsula. A characteristic cove on the sea with rocky overhanging cliffs dominated by the cave of Pellegrino, full of stalactites and stalagmites.

The Vendicari Nature Reserve  also has beautiful beaches. In Calamosche, you will find a clear and constantly calm sea. Eloro beach is impressive with its fine sand surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and freshwater marshes. In spring and autumn flocks of migratory birds and birdwatchers populate the reserve.

Migratory birds also stop at the Ciane River Reserve, known for the presence of papyrus. Enjoy a refreshing walk through the lush Mediterranean vegetation and abundant wildlife. Herons, ducks, flamingos, and even toads, trout and shellfish find shelter along the river.

If you stay in town, there is the opportunity to walk among the typical plants of the Mediterranean or watch the cobalt blue sea. An “exotic garden” is a haven for rare plants. Getting lost in the paths of Villa Reimann, including unique views, the scent of orange blossom and colourful flowers is a pleasure for all the senses.

In the heart of the city, we invite you to discover the popular “Foro Siracusano”. Known by the locals as the  “Villini”, this public garden consists of flower beds and flower-filled walkways and an area reserved for children’s’ games. The Forum also preserves evidence of past Greek civilization.

Facing the sea on the Dionysus waterfront there is a green area with palm trees and benches, surrounding the imposing white marble War Memorial. Sitting on a bench looking at the horizon, you can admire the sea that surrounds the city in an endless embrace.
