Foro Siracusano - 96100 Siracusa

The “Foro Siracusano” (“Forum of Syracuse”), also known as the “Villini”, is the main green lung of the city. It was the architect Luigi Mauceri to change the name and turn it into a garden, occupying the site of the Piazza d’armi.

On the northern side of the garden you can still see the remains of an Imperial Age portico, part of the Roman forum, which replaced the ancient Greek agora. The south side has the Roman paving in large flagstones of limestone.

Meeting point of the Syracusan, the Forum, which includes a playground, is considered as the real “Villa Comunale” of the city.
Today the Forum of Syracuse is divided by a number of paths that form flower beds in which are planted many Mediterranean plants such as impressive old trees and numerous evergreen hedges and other herbaceous plants, depending on the season.
