One more POINT: Digikiosk Airport

A valuable technological info point located at the arrivals area for a 360° fruition of the territory

A new goal by CityMapSicilia, 12 years after the publication of the first map of Catania and a year after the installation of Digikiosk in Piazza Duomo. For the tourist information network in Sicily comes a new multimedia totem from  May 31, 2018 at Catania Airport.

A valuable technological info point located at the arrivals area, which will allow tourists a reading and a 360° fruition of the territory, guaranteed by the constant updating of the data and the possibility to consult the service 24 hours a day 365 days a year .

The multilingual consultation is intuitive and complete, and offers very useful information to discover the Ionian territory: Catania, Taormina and Siracusa Guides and thematic itineraries, places of cultural interest, a complete overview on mobility, information on local restaurants, hotels and the calendar of major events in Sicily, always updated with exhibitions, initiatives and unmissable concerts.

A new way of doing “hospitality and digital tourism” thanks to the commitment of Industria01 – creator and publisher of the CityMapSicilia project – and TechLab Works, a company founded and run by very young Sicilian engineers, which deals with the development and production of electro-medical systems and of security technologies and from 2015 also of the development of an innovative line of digital totems, distinguishing itself at national level.

A project that has grown a lot in recent years and that starting from this installation will allow to network other totems, which will soon be located also in the other Sicilian provinces, served by the Catania Airport.

“From 2006 to today – tell Sarah Bersani and Bice Guastella, owners of INDUSTRIA01, publisher of CityMap Sicilia – we have seen growing interest and tourist flows towards Sicily and our city, Catania. In recent years we have listened to those who work daily in the tourism sector, from hoteliers to local managers, from guides to tour operators, collecting from each of them a wealth of testimonies that we used to improve our editorial project focusing not only on the contents, but on the ease of the digital fruition of the same. »

“A” smart “information tool – said AD SAC Nico Torrisi – that, for arriving passengers and visitors in transit, offers a very useful service to plan routes and new stages to discover the Ionian Sicily, rich in cultural attractions and events. A Digikiosk will soon be installed also in the Comiso Airport”.

Not only Catania, Etna and surroundings, but also Syracuse and Taormina (following Ragusa and its province), or the most popular destinations for the millions of tourists who disembark every year in Fontanarossa. «We are working on the creation of a Digikiosk network that we will place in the other Sicilian provinces served by the Fontanarossa airport, with the aim of allowing tourists a greater use of the territory guaranteed by the constant updating of the totem”.

The clicked DIGIKIOSK in Piazza Duomo in CATANIA and the new reality at the airport. For Digikiosk installed in collaboration with TechLab Works last year was a year of ground records: 30 thousand views of pages between itineraries, routes and cultural curiosities (among the top content, the one dedicated to Catania nightlife and the one on the 7 wonders of Catania) , 15,000 selfies shared on the Facebook page, almost 12,000 selfies sent to tourists from all over the world who have visited Sicily, an exponential increase in shares, coinciding with the night of the museums and the feast of St. Agatha.

“Following on from the recent success, we are certain that Digikiosk at the airport will also confirm the trend. And to this, once again, will join the playful aspect that has already been one of the successes of the previous totem: the selfie from Catania, which has so passionate the community “.
