Porta della Bellezza (The Gate of Beauty)

The Gate of Beauty in Librino district is a monumental sculpture in terracotta, the largest terracotta work in the world.

The project belongs to Antonio Presti, founder of “Fiumara d’Arte”, and includes the artworks of twelve Italians sculptors sharing the subject “The Great Mother”. The sculpture of each artist was associated with poetic texts and those are also reported on the walls that border Librino.

For its realization Librino primary and secondary schools children have been involved shaping over nine thousand terracotta molds which are displayed next to the sculptures of the great artists.

The Gate, sign of welcoming and hospitality, has the aim of promoting respect for the territory, the value of art and the meaning of beauty.
