    San Giovanni Li Cuti is the name of the small Catania’ seaside district where is the most typical beach in the city.

    Now it’s an integral part of the town, it is situated beside the promenade that begins as Viale Ruggero di Lauria, and continues as Via Artale Alagona sequentially through Piazza Europa, Piazza del Tricolore, Piazza Nettuno, Piazza Ognina and Piazza Mancini.

    The features that makes it a unique place are the black volcanic sand and rocks.
    In summer the “urban” beach is populated by people of Catania that during the day looking for a “refreshment” to escape from summer heat. San Giovanni Li Cuti’s area is now full of restaurants and beaches, where you can taste fresh fish and typical sicilian dishes, and at night it is the protagonist of the summer “movida” of the city.

    In addition, it is very suggestive to walk along the picturesque port where you can still see the typicals wooden boats used by local fishermen.
