From September 12 to 15, the exhibition dedicated to Modigliani in the heart of Ortigia
From July 12 to September 15, Syracuse will host the exhibition “Modigliani the Italian Artist – Multimedia Experience”. This unique event in Italy will be held in the evocative setting of the Antico Mercato, located in the heart of the island of Ortigia, the historic center of Syracuse.
The exhibition celebrates the 140th anniversary of the birth of the great Livorno artist, Amedeo Modigliani. Curated by the Amedeo Modigliani Institute and sponsored by the Sicily Region, the exhibition offers an immersive journey into the life and works of one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century.
The Exhibition Path
The exhibition uses the Modlight format, created by the Amedeo Modigliani Institute, to faithfully reproduce 50 of the artist’s works. The works, accompanied by QR Codes for further insights, are presented alongside unpublished historical photos. The exhibition path includes projections that recreate the atmosphere of early twentieth-century Paris and a room dedicated to the Sky Arte docufilm “Maledetto Modigliani” about the love story between Modigliani and Jeanne Hébuterne. Music from Modigliani’s era will enrich the event, creating an even more immersive experience for visitors.
The Inauguration
The exhibition will be inaugurated on July 12, the 140th anniversary of Modigliani’s birth. At 9:00 PM, in the courtyard of the Antico Mercato, there will be a free recital “MODIGLIANI IL PRINCIPE”. based on the novel of the same name by Angelo Longoni, with the participation of prominent actors and actresses.
