The Film Festival of the International Biennial of the Mediterranean Garden Radicepura Garden Festival is back
The Festival cinematographic Garden-in-Movies was born in 2017 to tell throughout the world of images the fundamental themes that ispire the International Biennial of landscaping Radicepura Garden Festival (Giarre, Catania).
For its third edition (2-3-4 August 2019), Garden-in-Movies approaches Gardens with film narration,in a broad perspective that embraces each dynamic where cultivate fundamental cultural, political, social and artistic values. The point is nature and landscaping, but even ecology, eco-sustainability, training, culture and respect of the environment.
The Festival will be held in three days of show, encounters and conversation with prestigious guests and propose, three different sections:
>“Radici” (Italy)
>“Essenza mediterranea” (Mediterranean Countries)
>“Oltre il giardino” (rest of the world).
To these propositions a competitive section for short film has been added, the Garden-in-Movies/ShortFilmFest, international contest of short film with a theme,with a Jury of quality and a popular Jury that will assign, respectively, the Award of the Best short film and the Award of the spectators.
The show, created by Ornella Sgroi, will repeat once again on 2019 for the III edition of Garden-in-Movies. Always in the extraordinary scenario of the Park of Radicepura, from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th of August 2019 will be back for three days in an outdoor botanical social gathering and a cinematographic theatre under the stars, at the feet of mount Etna, with the mobile locations of the Festival: the two panoramic terraces, the installations of Radicepura Garden Festival, the precious tropical greenhouse and the palmento of the Padrino.
The film showing (films and short films) selected for reasons of artistic and cultural values will be in their original language with subtitles in Italian and/or English and will be preceded by a conversation/interview with authors/film directors/actors/experts curated by the artistic director Ornella Sgroi.

7.30 pm Tribute to Nino Manfredi, with Roberta Manfredi, producer, and Alberto Simone, director and writer.
8.30pm Tropical terrace – Garden in Movies – Tribute to Nino Manfredi – presentation and screening of the feature film “Colpo di Luna” (1995 – Italian v.o Italian subtitle – 86 ‘) in the presence of director Alberto Simone and producer Roberta Manfredi.
10.00 pm Tropical terrace – Garden opening in Movies / ShortFilmFest. Presentation and screening of the short film Fuori Concorso / Classic “Pisicchio e Melisenda” (1938 – 11 ’) by Ugo Saitta in the presence of Gabriella Saitta.
10.30pm Tropical terrace – Garden in Movies / ShortFilmFest: introduction and projection of the first group of short films in competition. The entire selection is scheduled in the “Corti ai Orti” room.
11.00 pm Tropical terrace – Garden in Movies – Oltre il Giardino / Classic section: presentation and screening of the feature film “The Conspiracy of the Innocents” by Alfred Hitchcok (1955 – v.o English subt. Italian – 99 ’).
SATURDAY 3 AUGUST

7.30pm Piazzetta del cork – “Nuovo Italian Cinema”, conversation with the director Alessandra Pescetta and the actors Giovanni Calcagno and David Coco.
20.00 Tropical terrace – Garden in Movies / ShortFilmFest – Presentation and screening of the short film Out of Competition “Winter Solstice” (2018 – 29 ’) in the presence of director Alessandra Pescetta and actor Giovanni Calcagno.
9.00 pm Tropical terrace – Garden in Movies / ShortFilmFest: introduction and screening of the second group of short films in competition. The entire selection is scheduled in the “Corti ai Orti” room.
9.30pm Tropical terrace – Garden in Movies – Mediterranean Essence section: “All the colors of Van Gogh” – conversation with the writer Giovanni Montanaro.
22.00 Tropical terrace – Garden in Movies – Mediterranean Essence section: presentation and screening of the feature film “At Eternity’s Gate” (Van Gogh – On the threshold of eternity) by Julian Schnabel (v.o English / French sub. Italian – 110 ’).
