A perfect place to experience and share cool summer evenings.

Torre Archirafi, also known as ‘A Turri’ in Sicilian, is a charming seaside village located in the hamlet of Riposto.
From Torre Archirafi, it is possible to enjoy a panoramic view that stretches from the imposing volcano Etna and its slopes to Taormina, with the first chains of the Peloritani and the Calabrian coast.

The name derives from the presence of a defensive tower dating back to the 14th century, which was restored by order of King Martin in 1406. The original tower stood on the beach of Mascali, opposite the church of the seaside village of Torre Archirafi. Giovanni Natoli Ruffo was the first Duke of Archirafi and restored the parish church, dedicating it to Santa Maria della Lettera.

Despite the destruction of the original tower by sea erosion, it was rebuilt in a safer location in 1762. However, there is no documented evidence of a new tower built in that year, and a late 18th century painting depicts it in ruins.
Since its foundation, nthe village of Torre Archirafi has attracted ihabitants mainly from Acireale, Messina and Paternò. In 1815, with the separation of Giarre from the County of Mascali, Torre Archirafi became part of the new municipality, and in 1841, ‘Riposto and the village of La Torre’ obtained their own town hall.
