An exhibition to tell a century of Italian abstract painting

At the Gagliardi Museum in Noto, from Friday 15 June until 30 September 2018, it will be possible to enjoy “ABSTRACTA – from Balla to Street Art“, an exhibition that retraces a century of Italian abstract painting.

The exhibition, curated by Giuseppe Stagnitta, Giancarlo Carpi and Raffaella Bozzini, is included in the program of the prestigious Festival of Public Art “Emergence” and documents the innovative path of Italian abstractionism from Futurist precursors to the latest Street Art experiments. most significant contemporary Italian artists of this current.

Sponsored by the Municipality of Noto and included among the major events of the Sicily Region, the exhibition, consisting of over 70 works, from Foundations, Archives and important private collections, significant works by Italian historical artists who will dialogue with the works of contemporaries, will be hosted inside the renovated exhibition spaces of the Gagliardi Museum (Palazzo Trigona) in Noto.

The exhibition will describe the evolution of Italian abstractism, which was born with the first experiments by Giacomo Balla, up to the presentation of artists who in the 1930s described the abstract elaboration around the theories of Kn by Carlo Belli, between Milan and Como, Carla Badiali, Alberto Magnelli.
