Environment and nature, Naturalistic areas
Via dei Diamanti - 96100 Plemmirio

The Marine Protected Area of Plemmirio extends from Punta della Mola to Punta Milocca, south of Syracuse. A long beach, where to the wonders of the seabed and of the crystal clear sea, are associated rules to follow in order to maintain the marine ecosystem.

A charming place, with about 14 km of coastline, it is an area of great importance both from the point of view of flora and fauna, and from a historical point of view. A crossroads for the transit of Carthaginians, Romans and Greeks ships, the area of Plemmirio hosts in its seabed pieces of amphora and artifacts from various periods, including those of the last World War. The extraordinary seabeds are rich in every marine species that inhabit the Mediterranean Sea.

Notwithstandin the Marine Area is not only sea. All around, in the Mediterranean vegetation dominated by the presence of dwarf palm, there is a proliferation of life. In summer it is a bathing area, with 32 entrances to the beach. Mostly rocks and small gulfs.
