Svevo Castle

On the highest point of the peninsula of Augusta lies the castle of Augusta. The castle has a square layout and is surrounded by square and rectangular towers.

Over the centuries the castle has undergone several transformations due also to the different uses of the castle.

Worthy to see is the castle’s core consisting of an inner courtyard and a portico with pointed arches and vaults.

Moreover still visible are the elements added to the castle following it becoming a prison.
