Port-Channel of Brucoli

Brucoli rises along the stream Porcaria, whose presence has favored the settlement of ancient populations.

Over the centuries the river has carved a deep gorge up to the sea creating the port-channel, characterized by the presence of caves carved into the cliffs. The strategic location of the port and the use of caves as stores and shelters for boats and goods allowed the village of Brucoli to grow thanks to the trade by river with the hinterland towns.
From the historical point of view the port-channel of Brucoli is very interesting for the presence of traces of Neolithic settlements.
