Arenella

The elderly of Siracusa say that “u megghiu mari is close to Renedda” (“the best sea is that of Arenella”).

Easily reachable by city buses that leave every hour from Ortigia, or by taking the state highway 114, only seven and a half kilometers from Siracusa, passing the exits for the Maddalena Peninsula, before reaching Fontane Bianche. The area of the Arenella is formed by a large central beach, beautiful rocky stretches, a small side beach and an even smaller and beautiful hidden beach reachable only on foot.

The crystal clear waters of Arenella and its fine white sand make it a perfect place to spend a day at the beach with family or friends, the central beach is also served by two beaches that offer restaurants and any type of seaside comfort, it is also possible to rent canoes and pedal boats. The area is alive even in the evening thanks to several pubs, pizzerias and restaurants on the sea that often organize concerts and events of various kinds during the summer.

We also recommend you to go on a walk over the beaches because the stretch of coast that embraces this district offers beautiful landscapes.
