Fedra

At the greek theater of Siracusa, for the 52nd cycle of classical plays, the tragedy “Fedra”, written by Seneca, is on stage.

PLOT:

Fedra, daughter of the legendary Cretan king Minos, has an inner and tormented passion for her stepson Hippolytus. Pushed by the nurse, she reveals her love to Hippolytus, who escapes from the palace. So she decides to take revenge: when Theseus returns from the Underworld, she tells him, falsely, that Hippolytus tried to rape her. Theseus, then, invokes the curse on his child, who horribly dies.
When the body of Hippolytus returns at the palace, Fedra confesses her crime to Theseus and kills herself.
