Reach Syracyse by bus

We recommend using the Interbus services to reach Syracuse and all its attractions from the center of Catania.

Interbus departs daily from the Bus Terminal in the city of Catania at Via Archimede, a stone’s throw away from Catania Centrale Train Station and the Giovanni XXIII metro stop, taking you to your destination in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

On weekdays, the first departure is at 06:15 in the morning, the second at 07:30; subsequently, there is a bus every 30 minutes until 20:30. The last two departures from Catania are at 22:00 and 23:59. On Saturdays and Sundays, the first departure is at 07:30, with some minor variations between 11:30 and 15:30, and between 17:30 and 20:30, during which buses run hourly. Nevertheless, the last two departures are at 22:00 and 23:59.

Furthermore, the departures at 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM on weekdays (Monday to Friday) also stop at the Industrial Zone of Catania – Poste VIII Strada at 5:20 PM and 5:50 PM.

The buses departing from Catania Fontanarossa Airport: the first departure is at 07:40 AM and the last at 00:10 AM, with a frequency of one departure every half an hour. The ticket cost is the same.

By train

With Trenitalia, you can reach Syracuse in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Departures are from Catania Centrale Train Station, connected to the Giovanni XXIII metro stop, arriving at Syracuse Railway Station, very close to the city center.

 DEPARTURE TIMES

On weekdays, the first departure is at 06:01 in the morning and the last at 21:27, with a frequency of approximately one train every 2 hours. On Sunday mornings, there is only one departure at 10:50, and five departures in the afternoon and evening (from 16:50 to 21:27).

COST

The ticket cost is €8.80 for a standard ticket in 2nd class and €9.90 for an Economy ticket in the Family area in 2nd class.
