Museum of the cart

Home of the Sicilian cart, Aci S. Antonio boasts the Museum of the Sicilian symbol par excellence.

In a building used as stable and warehouse, you can see ancient and recent carts from all over Sicily, one of which skilfully decorated by the local artist Domenico Di Mauro.

All carts, carefully restored, stand out for the vivid colors and the painted figures.

With the specific aim to preserve the identity of the territory and pass on the traditions to the younger generation, the museum focuses on each single part of the cart: wheels, “masciddara” (sides of the cart), “barruna” (vertical bars) and trappings are just some of the parts exhibited, accompanied by a careful legend and detailed pictures.
