RI EVOLUTION, The Great Revolutionaries of Italian Art, from Futurism to Street Art

07 September - 07 January 2024
RI EVOLUTION: the new exhibition at Palazzo della Cultura, Catania
More than one hundred and thirty canvases, sculptures, applied arts, installations, videos, photographs – many of them for the first time in Sicily – by 80 Italian artists, including Carla Accardi, Umberto Boccioni, Giorgio De Chirico, Pino Pascali, Mimmo Paladino, Maurizio Cattelan, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Studio Azzurro, Luigi Ghirri, Enricailcane and Blu are some of the prestigious names present.
Through an innovative, informal exhibition itinerary, the spectator will take a journey through several artistic movements of the past: from Futurism to Abstractionism, from Arte Povera to Kinetic Art, from Metaphysics to Transavantgarde and finally Street Art – an artistic language particularly widespread in Catania – through a dialogue between the artists, united by the genius and originality of their works.
The focus is on the genius of the artist and his experiments – both in artistic language and in the applied arts – and the revolution within the path itself, which will offer the viewer new points of view and reflection on the last century and the present. An in-depth look at the fathers of Futurism, Marinetti and Boccioni, will be dedicated: an installation curated by CLERICI SKRIPTURA, will present unpublished works from the Libro del Cielo by FT MARINETTI ETNA – the Marinetti family’s homage to the city of Catania.
There will also be in-depth discussions with exclusive events, debates, meetings with artists and art critics, to offer visitors a key to understanding a century of revolutionary contemporary art.
In addition, it will be possible for boys and girls aged 13 to 18 to participate in several museum workshops related to the museum tour.
