Five good reasons to attend Magma Festival

Also for this edition we are proud to be a media partner of Magma Festival and to be able to immerse ourselves once again in the vision of the best short films in the world, in Acireale from November 25th. Edition number seventeen and many new features.

We give you at least five good reasons to find out:

1. TWO EXCEPTIONAL DIRECTORS

Magma starts with the screening of the feature film by director Stefano Savona that just November 25th will present “La strada dei Samouni”, awarded at the last Cannes Film Festival with the “Oeil d’Or” as best documentary. Monday, November 26th at the cinema King of Catania will be the turn of Franco Maresco – author of masterpieces such as  “Cinico TV”, “Lo Zio di Brooklyn” and “Totò che visse due volte” and will be present the director who will present two of his audience documentary films: “La mia Battaglia” (dialogue with the famous photographer Letizia Battaglia to tell her work) and “Enzo, Domani a Palermo!”, realized with Daniele Ciprì.

2. THE WINNING RACE OF THE SHORT FILMS

From Thursday 29th, November to Saturday 1st, December there will be the international short film competition with the jury presided over by Franco Maresco who will award the Lorenzo Vecchio Prize to the best short film, among the 26 in competition selected from more than 600 works from 52 countries in the world.

3. VISIONS FROM EVERY PART OF THE WORLD

The productions will come from all over the world, especially from Latin America to Brazil, Chile and Mexico. But also space for French, Spanish and Belgian works, in Italy and in productions from the USA, Iran, the Netherlands, Germany, Taiwan, Great Britain, Lithuania, Estonia and Greece.

4. A TOUCH OF FRANCE

A special section, dedicated to the island in cinema, will be curated by the International Film Festival of Groix (France), with which Magma holds a partnership started last summer and which will end next year with the presentation of a special selection interior of the French festival.

5. FESTIVAL THAT GROWS

Magma – short film exhibition has seen up to now more than 7,900 short films, coming from 79 countries around the world, totaling around 14,000 presences. Among the major short festivals in Italy has always kept the focus on the short format, recognizing it as an independent art form and a space in which to experiment new styles, new trends, with the aim of creating a bridge between the public and the infinite expressive possibilities short format ranging from documentary to animation, from narrative to experimental.
