Corso Umberto, 1 - 98039 Taormina

Porta Messina is the north entrance of the historical center of the town which leads to the main street of Taormina. In combination with Porta Catania, located south of the town, Porta Messina is part of the ancient fortified walls which started from the northeast.

Today you can only admire this gateway to the Corso Umberto and the plaque on top of the door placed in memory of his inauguration, commissioned by Ferdinand IV of Bourbon in 1808. In honor of the king, the port is also known as the Gate Ferdinandea.
