Naumachie

The Naumauchia, literally “sea battle”, is a large brick building 122 meters long and 5 meters high.

Built in the second century AD, the building takes its name from the belief that the monument was a stage intended for naval battles. Actually the building is a monumental fountain with waterworks.

The monument has 18 niches and the old flooring in polygonal blocks. Its structure was used as a foundation for modern homes.
