The Church of St. Catherine was built in Baroque style in the first half of 1600 on the ruins of the Odeon. At the center of the façade, above the portal in pink Taormina marble embellished with Corinthian decorations, in a niche it is placed the statue of St. Catherine (by 1705).

Inside the church, on the right, there is the marble statue of St. Catherine, which dates back to 1493 and which was originally located in the church of St. Catherine outside the city walls (now the Church of the Capuchins). The church has a single nave with three altars. The altar was made of marble from Taormina and inlaid and painted wood. The secondary altars, on the other hand, as other elements of the Church, are decorated with gypsum spiral columns surmounted by cherubs. The walls and secondary altars are then decorated with large oil paintings.

The church was closed for several years; then it has been restored and reopened in the 70s. During the restoration Greek-Roman ruins have been brought to light and they still visible behind a wrought iron railing.
