“The weight of this experience” by Giovanni Pinzone

Personal exhibition of the Sicilian figurative artist at the Emilio Greco Museum in Catania
From 8 to 16 June at the Emilio Greco Museum in Catania, which is housed in the historic Palazzo Gravina Cruyllas in Piazza San Francesco d’Assisi 3, the personal exhibition “The weight of existence” by the Sicilian artist Giovanni Pinzone will be open for free.
The exhibition, promoted by the Federiciana Academy, is one of the events promoted for the 8th “Sicilian Festival of Culture” and brings together the medium and large format works created in the last 14 years of the artist.
Curated by the art critic Fortunato Orazio Signorello, the exhibition of Pinzone, a figurative painter is characterized by vivid colors and a profound knowledge of painting techniques. As the art critic Milly Braccainte writes in the paperback that supports the exhibition – «carnival scenes, of a society of masks that alternate …», men and women of the peasant, working and urban reality, olive groves and wheat fields that «similarly they seem to tell real stories of suffering and fatigue, anguish and hopes of men in search of freedom».
In his critical text Milly Bracciante stresses that “in the name of unbridled hedonism and an absurd social egoism, the essence of morality and life, the pictorial art of Giovanni Pinzone, with his insistence on some focal points of the Today’s reality, it is, then, an effective social denunciation, a reflection of reflection on which to confront and meditate. And this, especially in his most recent works, the result of an emotional participation in the everyday life that surrounds us and the problems that derive from it “.
The exhibition, which will open on June 8th at 17:00, will remain open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
