Taobuk 2015

The 5th edition of the Festival will take place from 19th to 25th September 2015, offering a cavalcade of ideas, news and influential names, for an event that only a location like Taormina can host, a universal, timeless name and prestigious venue.

Guests of Taobuk from 2011 to date include the most important names in Italian and International Literature, such as Luis Sepulveda, the Premi Strega winners Walter Siti and Francesco Piccolo, the Chinese writer Xue Xinran, and the pluri-nominated American writer Jeffery Deaver. There have also been cinema personalities such as the Academy Award winners Giuseppe Tornatore and Ennio Morricone, and the Oscar-winning musician Nicola Piovani; high standing journalists such as Beppe Severgnini, Sergio Rizzo, Gian Antonio Stella, and Alan Friedman. These have been joined by important political personalities such as the President of the Senate Pietro Grasso, and Walter Veltroni, as well as the magistrates Nicola Gratteri and Giuseppe Ayala. Leading photographers such as Ferdinando Scianna have also been guests, and songwriters such as Piero Pelù.

It has moreover welcomed important figures in arts broadcasting, such as Piero Angela and Corrado Augias, famous TV personalities such as Daria Bignardi, and theatre directors such as Roberta Torre. Other past guests include Gianrico Carofiglio, Simonetta Agnello Hornby, Matteo Collura, Diego De Silva, Donato Carrisi, Alessia Gazzola, and Paola Mastrocola.

A Festival is made up by the shared emotions of its participants, both audience and authors, and Taobuk is proud of creating a “Belle Lettere Village” under the sky, overlooking the blue of Taormina’s sea.
