From 30 June to 6 July 2019, at the Palazzo dei Congressi, the Taormina Film Fest hosts “Sicilia Vernacolare”, photo exhibition by Claudio Santini
The Taormina FilmFest hosts the exhibition of photographer Claudio Santini at the Palazzo dei Congressi on the occasion of the 65th edition of the film festival. Thirty black and white images that take us back to a lost lifestyle to be re-evaluated for a more environmentally friendly behavior.
“I have always admired the sense of aggregation of the ancient villages where the close proximity of the houses makes you feel part of a connected community and where the heat generated within the domestic walls is shared and retained in a sort of architectural embrace.” So the photographer Claudio Santini and then adds: “I embarked on a journey through Sicily in search of a lost lifestyle, in the memory of a distant past, to document and re-evaluate the wisdom of ordinary people who built, furnished and lived their own houses following the simple rules dictated by necessity.”
The photos, rigorously taken in Sicilian land, portray abandoned landscapes, homes and work environments that speak of a knowledge handed down to be recognized.
