What do you do on Easter Monday? Five proposals in Sicily
Citymap SiciliaEaster is one of the most important periods of the liturgical year, so Easter Monday is one of the best days for small trips and outings. Sicily is a particularly felt: thanks to the mild climate and rich mix of culture and nature, citizens and tourists have a wide choice of destinations.
Here are Here are five suggestions to spend a special day.
SEA
Imagine a long stretch of beach, with clear water and a wonderful depth rich of fauna and flora. Welcome to Plemmirio, a place of great charm and even historic importance.
A marine protected area (MPA) with rules to be respected, which in the summer becomes a magnificent beach area (let’s take the opportunity to dive along the coast?).
If you want to go to the sea, choose the Pillirina beach.

MOUNTAIN
When you live in front of Etna, it is impossible to resist the temptation.
For an Easter Monday between the lava stone and pine forests, organize a trip to the highest European volcano (or rather, a Full Day excursion with pick-up from Catania).
A suggestion?
With or without snow, visit : a place that combines the charm of the alpine landscape with the sight of the legendary Ionian Sea.
LAKE
Yes, the lakes are not only in the Northern Italy: in Sicily we have some too.
Whether with friends, family or your partner, Lago Dirillo is the perfect destination for a fun and relaxing day: a pool of over 20 million cubic meters near Vizzini, equipped for fishing and sports, especially rowing. (If you are fond of caves, you can combine it witha tour of Pantalica).

TOWN
Just a name: Castelmola. Have you been to Taormina and have appreciated it, or you want to go shortly?
You’ll love this little town, built on a rock with a great architectural offer: a Norman castle, a striking church, a stunning city centre.
It is no coincidence that Castelmola is one of “The most beautiful villages in Italy” (however, you can always switch to Taormina for a tasting of wine and typical Sicilian products).
FOOD
Catania is the hometown of street food. Wandering the streets of the city, it is impossible not to meet at least a peddler, a kiosk or a restaurant with a tasty cuisine.
The queen is certainly the “tavola calda” (arancini, cartocciate, pizzette, ecc.), but also the roasted meat and the confectionery play an important role. (So, in addition to museums, enjoy also a walking tour in the discovery of the best city’s street food!)
