Palace Migliaccio

Culture, Monuments
Via Pompeo Picherali - 96100 Siracusa

Palace Migliaccio, representative monument of the Syracuse Renaissance, is one of the few fifteenth century monuments which didn’t collapse after the earthquake in 1693 which destroyed most of the Medieval and Renaissance buildings of South Eastern Sicily.

The building was closed to the public as in danger; the part overlooking the Largo Arethusa has been restored and it belongs to a hotel.
Outstanding are its doorways, the arched shape windows, the bas-reliefs and the zigzagged battlements in lava stone.
