Alcantara’s river park

From Giardini Naxos to Randazzo it extends the river Alcantara, from the Arabic Al Quantarah ( “the bridge”). Along this beautiful river there are testimonies and remains of rulers who settled close to it.

The river park includes also the City of Taormina. Going up the estuary from Giardini Naxos you arrive to the plain of Cape Schisò Taormina.

The river runs through the Etna Park, Nebrodi and the Peloritani. Hence the great variety of vegetation and wildlife that distinguish the Alcantara River Park.
Wild rabbits, golden eagles, citrus and aquatic plants, the park is a reserve of biodiversity.

The towns situated in the Alcantara River Park’s area preserve important historical, artistic and natural heritage which allow visitors to practice all kinds of activities.

If you are fond of going trekking you can not miss hiking trails and itineraries characterised by enchanting overviews and views of the river Alcantara. But the activities do not end there, you can enjoy various outdoor sports.
